1.0 General Information

1.1 Tournament Overview

Title: i30 CS 1.6 Tournament
Dates: Friday 6th April - Monday 9th April 2007

Game Version Played: Counter-Strike 1.6
Maximum Competitors: 128 Teams of at least five members each


1.2 Tournament Staff

The CS 1.6 head admin is Chicane. At the event itself, you will find us in the tournament 'red-shirt' section of the staff area, situated next to the server area on the ground floor. You can also find us on the event IRC in #cs and #cs.tournament.

2.0 Participants

2.1 Online Signups

Online Signups for the i30 1.6 Tournament will take place at http://lan.multiplay.co.uk. Registration must be completed in advance to the tournament before Tuesday 3rd April 2007 @ 18:00.

Five players must be registered under the same team to confirm one of the 128 tournament spots. Any number of players beyond five may be registered for any one team.

Tournament registration is limited to 128 teams. Signing up as a participant to i30 does not guarantee a place in the tournament.

2.2 On-Site Signups

Players are required to sign in to the event as a participant in order to take part in the tournament. On-site Tournament Registration will run while places are available until noon on Friday 6th April. As stated above, Tournament registration is limited to 128 teams and five players must be registered under the same team to confirm one of the 32 tournament spots. Players who do not signup either online or on-site by this time will not be allowed to compete.

2.3 Teams and Participants

When all the players for your team have signed up, they will be the only players you may field in your player line up for each match. A player can only play for one team, although a team can enter more than 5 players. A clan may enter more than one team but players can not be transferred between teams. Players can not be transferred across parts of the tournament.

By registering and participating in the i30 tournaments, all participants agree to abide by the rules of the tournament.

2.4 Mercenaries

Mercenaries or "Mercs" (players not signed up with the team in question) will only be permitted if the opposing team agrees to it and the admin for the match is notified by a member from both teams prior to the start of the match. Spot checks will be carried out by admins. Use of mercs as substitutes is not allowed. Any unauthorised use of a merc will result in match being forfeit by the offending team.

3.0 Tournament Format

3.1 Matches

Only de (demolition) maps will be played throughout the i30 CS 1.6 tournament. These will be selected from the following maps;

NB: Which ever map is chosen for the final, will not be played during the tournament.

The tournament format will be one of two options.

1. Group stages with Knockout Rounds to follow
2. Double Elimination


This is subject to change dependant on the number of complete teams participating in the tournament.

3.2 MR Rules

The entire tournament will use MR15 rules, with a round time of 1.45 minutes.
There is no time limit. Both teams play one map, for 15 (MR15) rounds as both Counter-Terrorist and Terrorist. Matches will be won by the team that score the highest number of rounds overall.

3.3 Draws

Draw results are not permitted at any stage in the tournament.
In the event of a draw, the two teams will repeat the map with max rounds 3 and $10000 startmoney. If another draw occurs, this will be repeated as often as needed until there is a winner after a set of 6 rounds.

3.4 Early Retirement

If the match has been won before 30 rounds have been played, the teams may leave the server but the final score will be that of when the teams left the server. Remaining rounds will be discarded and will not count for ranking purposes.

3.5 Ranking and Promotion

Clans receive 2 ranking points for a victory and 0 ranking point for a loss in the group stages. At the end of the group stages, the top 2 clans in the group will continue into the elimination stages of the prize-winning "pro" tournament. The two lowest scoring clans will be eliminated from the prize-winning tournament, but can continue in a smaller and self admined 'amateur' tournament.
Clans are ranked by their ranking points. If two clans have an equal amount of points, the outcome of the match between the tied clans determines the rank.

4.2 Spectators & HLTV

No spectators of any kind will be allowed in game other than the designated admin for that game.
HLTV will be running throughout the tournament. We cannot promise to have the demos available at the event, but will be available for download online within a week.

4.3 Passwords

Tournament servers may be passworded. If this is the case, to connect to the servers, follow the IP with the password when connecting via the console. Else edit your shortcut to include "+password" and then the password. You can find out the password from the tournament staff and in irc on the day of the tournament.


5.0 Match Rules - General

5.1 Match Format

Each match is played on the scheduled map, which will be selected from the list above. Each map will be played 2x15 rounds, with each clan playing 15 rounds as CT and 15 rounds as T on each map.

5.2 IRC Channels

The tournament largely relies on IRC to convey tournament updates so please ensure you have a copy installed. A client may be downloaded from here. At least one member of each team will be required to be in the following IRC channels at all times throughout the tournament. You can connect just by using 'irc' as the server.

#cs.tournament - Tournament announcements and server assignment.
#cs - The general cs channel for the i-series event.

All cs admins will be opped, so please direct your queries to these people. Please be patient for a reply as we may be either in a game or dealing with other issues and may be away from our desk.

5.3 Team Name Convention

When in the server prior to match start, all team players must be tagged up with the same clan tag that they signed up with. This is to help with disputes and tracking with the server logs.

5.4 Match Starts

The match may not begin before the admin is ready. A team must have all the members it intends to field in the server 5 minutes before the scheduled start time of the match. If a match is still in progress on your allocated server, await authorisation from an admin before joining the server. If any team fails to provide at least 4 players, 10 minutes after the scheduled match start, the match will be forfeit and the opposing team will be awarded the win.

The only acceptable excuses for missing the scheduled start of a match are:
- Network failure
- Server failure
- Power failure
- Previous match overrunning


The allocation of teams to terrorist and counter-terrorist will be decided via a knife round or by the mutual consent of the two teams.

5.5 Server Crashes

If a server crashes before 4 complete rounds have been played, the game score will be reset to 0-0 and the affected leg of the match will be restarted once the server is available. If the server crashes from the 5th round onwards, the server will be restarted, and game play will resume with the max rounds of the affected leg set to the outstanding rounds to be played. Start money will not be altered.

5.6 Pausing

Pausing will be allowed throughout the entire tournament. You are allowed a maximum of 2 server pauses per team, per match, in the event of a player dropping. Each pause will last a maximum of 2 minutes. This is to avoid abuse of pausing, and to avoid lengthy match delays. Dropped players will be expected to reconnect/reboot immediately and to not delay the match unnecessarily. If the player has not returned after 2 minutes the match will resume without the team member. Substitutes can only be used if they have signed up to the tournament and are listed as one of the members for that team. Spot checks on players will take place and no "mercs" will be permitted.

The pause will be started at the end of the round in which the player dropped. When the player has reconnected and rejoined the team, the game will be un-paused and the match will continue.

5.7 In-game Substitution

In-game substitutions will be permitted in the event of a player dropping from the server, provided the substitute player is on the team's pre-signed up player list. No mercenary substitutions or changes to the players assigned to the team will be permitted.

If a player drops for longer than 2 minutes and a listed substitute cannot be found then the match will continue as long as at least 4 players remain on each team.

5.8 Voice Communication

Use of voice communication software is acceptable, either with the use of the ingame comms, or utilities such as game voice, teamspeak, roger wilco, skype etc.

5.9 Demos & Screenshots

It is advisable, although not compulsory, to record demos and take screenshots of your matches. Having these will help support your case in the event of any dispute.


6.0 Game-play Rules

6.1 Cheating & Anti-cheat

All forms of cheating are strictly prohibited - any player found to be cheating will forfeit the current match for their team and be removed from the all MPUK tournaments for the duration of the event, in accordance with the MPUK Cheating policy.
If a clan breaks a rule without the admin noticing, they are still liable for the consequences.

Any programs or files, be they changed CS files or new files, that change CS or add to its functionality, or that interact with CS in any way, are strictly forbidden. Modified versions of CS's .pak, .wad or .exe files are always forbidden, regardless of what they do. The use of any forbidden program or file by any clan member during a cup match will lead to the exclusion of the clan from the tournament.

Disallowed practices include, but are not limited to, the following: - Exploitation of game/map bugs/exploits that give an unfair advantage such as setting your gamma too high. - Scripts and external programs that provide an unfair advantage, e.g. HL speed cheat
- Use of custom models and skins. This goes for the player models/skins as well as the weapon models/skins e.g. longer weapons to stick out from behind boxes, bright or oversized skins.
- Use of custom map textures.
- Use of aimbots, wallhacks and any exploitations of the engine.
- Custom sprays that adversely affect game play, e.g. image of a Terrorist or CT, ladders, doors, guns and so on.


The tournament admins may inspect your machine for evidence of cheats/hacks - these may be random checks or as a response to a complaint.

6.2 Anti Cheat Program

Currently we will be using VAC for anticheat. If your account has been VAC banned you will not be able to enter this tournament.

6.3 In-game Techniques

Bomb-planting - Bomb-boosting will not be permitted. This is seen as an advantage towards the terrorists. The bomb can only be planted by the bomb carrier without any intervention from team-mates. Silent bomb plants will not be permitted. Abuse of this will result in a forfeit of the match.

Boosting - General map boosting with any number of players will be permitted. Any area that can be reached on the map is considered a valid position as long as the position is not used to exploit the map by seeing into areas that are not intended. Boosting through roofs is banned (refer to map exploits).

Map Exploits - Taking advantage of new or known map exploits (for example invisible ledges or "map swimming") will result in the forfeit of the match. Please refer to our listed map exploits online here.

Shield Use - The use of the riot shield is banned in the tournament. Any player found using the shield is liable for immediate ejection from the tournament.

6.4 Rulings and Appeal

If a team believes members of another team are cheating in a match with them, you must request an admin to go and watch over the match of the team in question.

If left until after the match, all appeals must be backed up with evidence in the form of a recorded demo and screenshots from the match.

Any dispute in scoring must be raised with the head admin before the next round of the tournament begins.


7.0 Code of Conduct

7.1 Tournament Code of Conduct

The following is a summary of the Tournament Team's expectations of you, should you wish to take part in the tournaments at an i-Series event. It is intended to remind you of your basic obligations to both the administrators and the other participants of the tournaments, instead of a definitive set of rules which are to be obeyed.

All teams/individuals participating in the I-Series tournaments will be required to:
- Abide by the Multiplay UK Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Statement.
- Know and understand the tournament rules and abide by them.


You will be expected to:
- Be present "in good time" on the server as directed by your admin. Turning up late for a game not only delays the games which follow but will cause problems with scheduling of the tournaments as a hole.
- Not cheat or abuse game and map bugs. We all know that cheating is wrong, and causes no end of arguments between opponents.
- Treat the tournament admins and other participants of the tournament with respect and courtesy. Abuse of fellow players and administrators is not acceptable and will be dealt with accordingly should the need arise.
- Tournament admins have the right to kick players who abuse them or their opponents and who continue to do so after one clear warning. A player that has been kicked is banned from the rest of the match and the clan must complete the rest of the map with a player short.


Be nice to each other, manners cost nothing and make the whole event more fun.

7.2 Complaints and Grievances

If you have a complaint regarding your match, your team leader or a nominated team spokesperson should contact the lead administrator of the tournament. This is an attempt to cut down on the mass huddle of bodies around an admin in the event of a problem when an entire team turns out to explain the situation.

It is the responsibility of the team raising the complaint to provide evidence that the grievance is valid. It is not the responsibility of the admin to provide evidence, as they are provided solely as an unbiased third party to arbitrate any problems. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a decision given by the head admin for your tournament, your complaint may be referred to the Head of Gaming for a final decision.

7.3 Termination

If you fail to act in accordance with the codes of conduct, you entry to the tournament may be revoked. You will be notified should this arise.

Remember, the i-series is a LAN party, and parties should be fun for everyone. The aim of these tournaments it to increase the enjoyment of everyone at these events, but this can only be accomplished when the players and the administrators are working with each other, not against each other. So, play nice and have fun!


8.0 Exceptions and Summary

8.1 Changes to Rules

These rules are subject to change at any time. Any changes or updates to rules will be notified on the i30 Website. The current draft of the rules is also available at the event on the i-series intranet. All participants are expected to know and follow all the rules; not knowing them is not valid excuse for not following them.

8.2 Exceptions and Special Circumstances

When it is necessary the spirit in which the rules are written takes precedence over the written letter. When common sense dictates it exceptions can be made to the tournament rules at the discretion of the Head Admin. It is impossible to foresee all eventualities and in the event of a situation not covered by the rules the Head Admin will make a decision on the issue in keeping with the spirit of the i-series tournaments and the interests of fairness.

8.3 In Summary

These tournaments are for fun. Please maximise everyone's enjoyment by playing in a mature sensible way. No-one benefits from players cheating and causing trouble. Remember; ask the admins if you have any queries about the rules before the event starts.

Do You Need A Battery Tester for Your Automotive Battery?

5. Exchange phone numbers and email addresses. If there is a change of plans, you want to be able to contact everyone in the carpool immediately. Make sure that a chain of communication is established so all parties involved can be properly informed of any schedule or driving changes. Pinning a note on someone's office chair or desk about your availability will not suffice!

6. Drive safely. You've got the lives of others in your hands. Never drive in a reckless manner or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you don't feel physically capable of driving, then ask one of your co-workers to fill in.

7. Find the best route. Work with the other individuals in your car pool to map out each day's driving plan. Take into consideration traffic routes, timing and how to use the least amount of gas. Make sure that everyone's needs are accounted for and that all riders/drivers are pleased with the route.
